The name comes from something personal too. We’re both neurodivergent, and “divergent thinking” has always been part of how we solve problems: we look for patterns, reframe quickly, and connect dots across disciplines. The point isn’t to be different for the sake of it. It’s to get to a clearer answer faster, and build it properly.

Founders

Andy Davies
Co-Founder, Product & Strategy
Andy Davies is a product guy through and through. He started as a product manager back when the role meant knowing a little about a lot, and he still works that way today. He looks at the full picture: users, technology, business models, and what it takes to ship. He cares about building the right product, for the right people, at the right time, at the right price.
He’s Co-Founder of Diverge, a hands-on studio helping teams shape strategy, build products, and bring new ideas to market.
Andy has worked across music and entertainment, consumer technology and products, digital platforms, and early-stage ventures, often at the intersection of product, commerce, and emerging tech.
Before Diverge, Andy was a Vice President at Universal Music Group. He built and led an internal innovation studio responsible for over $130m in new revenue, spanning platform and product development, partnerships, and new ventures. While at UMG, he founded Sollos, an audio and wellbeing initiative now live on Apple Music, and led the venture build in partnership with BCG X.
Andy mentors startups through Abbey Road’s RED incubator and Grow Music (BPI x London & Partners x Abbey Road), and serves on the board of the EMI Archive Trust.

Rob Ryan
Co-Founder, Design & Experience
Rob Ryan is a designer by trade with a serious love of craft and detail. He previously founded and ran Rabbit & Hare, delivering award-winning work across brand and digital.
As Co-Founder of Diverge, he leads Design and Experience. He’s also the operational engine of the studio, keeping projects on track and the business running smoothly, from planning and delivery through to day-to-day operations.
Rob has worked across agencies and in-house teams for over two decades, spanning retail and consumer brands, financial services, travel, media, and entertainment. He brings a rare mix of clear organisation and hands-on craft. He’s at his best when he’s unpicking a problem, exploring the angles, and turning complex thinking into clear, usable outcomes. That might be a brand system, a product experience, or a digital platform that needs to tell a story properly. He stays close to the work, often designing alongside the team in real time, and he cares deeply about detail and finish.
Rob is also known for energy and follow-through. He keeps momentum when things get busy, brings people with him, and delivers what he says he will. His approach is practical: pick a direction, put it in front of people, learn quickly, then improve.
He has worked with brands including MTV, The National Lottery, Jamie Oliver, Marks & Spencer, Universal Music Group, and NatWest.
